2005~06年にかけてイタリアのミラノで過ごした。季節は秋から冬へ、そして春が巡った。住んでいたアパートからほど近いところに広大な市民公園があり、日曜日の午後は決まってその公園に出かけた。夕暮れ時になると子供たちの歓声がこだまして、清らかな音楽のようにも聞こえた。ベンチに座りそこで営まれる光景をじっと眺めていると、人生の深淵で大切なものがそこにはあるという幸せな気持ちになるのだった。（川村悦子展画集からの抜粋。）
From 2005 to 2006, I lived in Milan, Italy. The seasons shifted from autumn to winter, and then spring arrived. Near the apartment where I lived was a vast public park, and I always went there on Sunday afternoons. As dusk fell, the children’s laughter echoed, sounding almost like pure music. Sitting on a bench and quietly observing the scenes unfolding there, I felt a happy sense that something profoundly important lay within the depths of life.
