自然への誠実なまなざしと卓越した油彩表現で知られる画家川村悦子の個展を開催します。（略）日本人にとって、西洋的な絵画を描くことの可能性はいったいどこに見出せるのか。多くの洋画家が目指してきたこの問いかけに、川村は今地震の何気無い体験や身近な光景に向き合うことで、真摯に取り組もうとしています。本展では代表作となっている蓮を描いたシリーズのほか、イタリアの個展絵画に取材した初期s狗品、東洋美術への接近を試みた屏風や掛軸、身近な草花に目を向けた近作群、そして「ありふれた季節」とだおした新作のシリーズを一堂に集め紹介します。（略）

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition by artist Etsuko Kawamura, renowned for her sincere gaze toward nature and exceptional oil painting technique. (Excerpt) Where exactly can the possibility of painting in a Western style be found for Japanese artists? Confronting this question pursued by many Western-style painters, Kawamura now earnestly engages with it by turning her attention to the casual experiences of earthquakes and familiar scenes around her. This exhibition brings together a wide range of her work: her representative series depicting lotus flowers; early pieces inspired by paintings from her solo exhibition in Italy; folding screens and hanging scrolls exploring Eastern art; recent works focusing on familiar plants and flowers; and a new series titled “JUST ANOTHER SEASON” (Excerpt)
